Mosque
Fifteen Years ago, it was in the holy month of Rabi-ul-Awwal (July 1979) that a handful of devout Muslims imbued with the love of ALLAH, the Holy Quran, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be Upon Him) and Islam, founded the Darul Uloom Jamia Rizvia (Trust) in Model Town, Lahore, Pakistan where there already existed a Mosque in each of its block as symbols of the residents' attachment and devotion to Islam

and its teachings as contained in the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (Peace be Upon Him) of Islam.

The Site
The site selected was a 10'*15' piece of ground under the Shisham Tree at the present Car Parking site of the Model Town Park. A long prayer mat was spread on hits 'Kacha' piece of ground for the people to offer their prayers while waiting for transport at the Model Town Bus Stand.

History & Foundation

Among these religious devotes, who had their permanent place of sitting at the Akbar Tea Stall, was also a group of Syed Zahid Hussain Shah and Syed Asghar Hussain Shah. The former was a true Muslim strictly adhering to the teachings of Islam. He rarely missed his prayers. When they saw people offering their prayers on this 'Kacha' piece of ground regularly and punctually, they and other pious people who were doing small business there, who included Messrs Ijaz Ahmed Qureshi, Allah Ditta, Akbar Ghauri, Muhammad Amin and Zahid Husaain Shah, etc, joined hands and collected donations themselves from the people and raised a fund, out of which they purchased new prayers mats and also engaged an Imam to lead the prayers at the place. Thus the people started saying their prayers after the Imam from Fajar to Ishaa regulary. The 'Kacha' prayer site thus took the shape of a Mosque for all intents and purposes and for which the name "Jamia Rizvia" was approved. About 15 yards away from this site were the residential quarters of employees of the Model Town Society. Its residents also started offering their daily prayers in this "Jamia Rizvia" regularly. They included Baba Boota, Haji Muhammad Bashir, Abdur Rehman Raunqi and many others.

In the Holy month of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the above named persons planned a program to hold Mehfil-e-Milad at the site of 'Kacha' Mosque. Secretaries Milad Commitee, Chaudhri Abdur Rehman and Syed Zahid Hussaun Shah contacted such of the residents of Block B who regularly held Mehfil-e-Milad and Khatam-i-Ghausia at their residences. On the appointed date, Haji Sheikh Zubair Hassan, Zaheer-ud-Din Ahmed Babar Qadri, Aamir Ali Alvi, Hamid Sultan, Majeed Sultan, Malik Anwar Hussain and Agha Javed Goher Qadri graced the Mehfil-e-Milad with their presence in the 'Kacha' Mosque.

At one time, the Zaheer-ud-Din Ahmed Babar Qadri and Haji Sheik Zubair Hassan met Dr. Mufti Ghulam Sarwar Bukhari Qadri, Khatib & Founder of Jamia Ghausia Rizvia, Main Market, Gulberg for seeking guidance on some religious point. They were so much enchanted with the personality and wisdom of Dr. Mufti Sahib that they apprised him of the whole position of this 'Kacha' Mosque and requested him to take some personal interest in the progress and development of this place of worship. Dr. Mufti Sahib readily agreed. He sent for his Murid Maulana Muhammad Mohsin Rizvi, and asks him to deliver the Khutba at this Mosque every friday.

Shaikh-ul-Hadith Dr. Mufti Ghulam Sarwar Bukhari Qadri, who has dedicated his life to the propagation of Islam and its teachings, announced on Friday that he would give Dars-e-Quran on every Thursday after Asar prayers on the Mosque platform. In September 1981, the Dars started there which continued uninterrpted for almost 2 years.

Jamia & Mosque
In 1982, the Model Town Society announced its election schedule. This time, Mr. Zaheer-ud-Din Ahmed Babar Qadri also decided to contest for one of the seats, Nomination papers were deposited in the office of the Society. Some members of the majority party estbalished contact with Mr. Zaheer-ud-Din Ahmed Babar Qadri and requested him to withdraw his candidature, as it was the unanimous decision of the majority party. On the advice of Shaikh-ul-Hadith Dr. Peer Sahib, the Mr. Zaheer-ud-Din expressed his willingness to withdraw from the election contest on condition that the majority party should earmark a 4 Kanal vacant plot in the name of the Mosque & Jamia (Islamic Center). The very next day, the majority party, unanimously decided in the meeting of the Managing Commitee of the Society to allot the 4 Kanal vacant plot for the Mosque & Jamia (Islamic Center) in the names of the Mr. Zaheer-ud-Din Ahmed Babar Qadri and malik Anwar Hussain. They Mr. Zaheer-ud-Din Ahmed Babar Qadri and Malik Anwar Hussain. Transferred the 4 Kanal for Mosque and Jamia in name of Shaikh-ul-Hadith Dr. Mufti Ghulam Sarwar Bukhari Qadri, for imparting religious training and teachings of the Holy Quran & Sunnah to the Aalims and students.

In 1984, in one of the meetings of the Jamia Rizvia, Shaikh-ul-Hadith Dr. Mufti Ghulam Sarwar Bukhari Qadri directed that instead of Jamia Rizvia Mosque, the name of Jamia Rizvia Trust should be registered the project. The registered body unanimously approved this proposal of Dr. Peer Shaib. The same day approval was also accorded to the rules and regulations and other procedural formalities of the Trust. Thus in deference to the far sighted advice of Dr. Peer Sahib, some 70 members of the Commitee including persons offering prayers there affixed their signature in favour of the proposal.
